Horse Trailer Parts Needed for my Horse Trailer!
_________________________________________________________
Of course, many horse trailer parts will come with
the trailer that I buy. But I want to make sure
that I have comfortable, rubber stall mats for my
beautiful Palomino mare, Buttercup. I’m sure I’ll
want to install extra mirrors on the trailer.
Since I’m buying the trailer from Featherlite, I’ll look
for things there, naturally. But I’ll look at
competitors, like Sundowner, Silver Star, Titans and
Exiss, particularly since I looked at their sites for
trailers.
I’ll want to purchase some aluminum racks, shelves
and cabinets to store supplies. I looked at the
bumper pulls and hitches from Sundowner, since they seem
competitively priced. But the hitch and its
attachments will probably be the most important items
I’ll buy, so I will shop around and look for some expert
advice.
I’ll want a padlock to keep Buttercup safe, and may
find one at Featherlite when I pick up the trailer.
I’ll also ask them about screens for the windows as they
may be extra. I know an emergency kit will be a
must, as well as lighting, trailer steps, water tanks,
safety signs and wheel locks.
There are so many extra trailer parts I’m going to
need, I’ll probably try to find an “old-timer” who can
lead me in the right direction. As I’m just
getting started as a horse owner, I’ll want to purchase
the absolute necessities first and then add the “extras”
as I go.
A friend recently told me a hitch saver is a handy
item. It’s a durable, waterproof vinyl cover to
protect the trailer’s assembly from peeling paint that
comes from storing it outside.
Of course, most truck owners have a heavy-duty
flashlight, maybe not thought of as a trailer part.
But I’m going to treat myself and Buttercup to new one,
as the battery-case threading is getting a little worn
on the one I have. I need to duct-tape it each
time I replace batteries.
I’m looking forward to meandering through some of the
dealer stores, like Inline, Calico, Featherlite.
I’ll make a “wish list” and pass it on to friends and
family who will want to buy me a gift from time-to-time.
