Miniature Horse Tack

Miniature Horse Tack

Miniature Horse Tack Will Be a Must if I Buy a Miniature Horse

_________________________________________________________

If I do end up purchasing a miniature horse, I’m will really want a cart for him to pull. It will just be too cute with the grandkids riding in it!  He’ll need a special driving harness to pull the cart. The one I’m interested in has a complete harness with bridle that converts easily from sidecheck to overcheck, bit, 2 tone reins, backsaddle, breast collar and traces. This gear will probably be my first purchase, before a riding saddle, as I think I like the idea of a little cart with a couple of the kids in it more than them riding the little guy, at least until he gets used to all of us.

Since I don’t know that much about this subject (though it must be similar, only smaller, as that for full-sized horses), I think I’ll get a couple catalogs. I think the “American Livestock Magazine and Publishing “ will be a good catalog to start with, as I’m already familiar with that one. Also Star Lake Farm and Tack offers a catalog, and you can access it on-line. Going on-line for the tack for both horses is probably what I’ll end up doing.

Of course, the miniature horse will need a saddle and bridle. And I’ve seen these incredible mini buckle-on shoes. They’re made of leather with nylon webbing sides that buckle in the front of the hoof. They completely cover and protect the hoof. I hope they come in different colors.

He’ll need a halter and lead, control bar, bit and of course, saddle blankets. Since he’ll be outside in Colorado much of the time, I think I should get him a waterproof sheet. They have a closed front with bellyband and tail cover. The rump is shaped with 4 hip darts, so leg straps aren’t necessary. Being outside a lot, I think I’ll want him to have a fly mask and maybe fly sheets. I’ll probably also get hoods, body sleeves and tail bags for winter wear.  Mulling over the miniature horse tack, on second thought I don’t think I’ll get a bridle that has a bit in it, at least at first until I see what kind of temperament he has.  I’ll be looking for a miniature horse with a sweet disposition since I will want my grandchildren to enjoy him.

Of course, this will come after I have all of Buttercup’s needs supplied!
